Our All Tours Peru team will pick you up around 8:00 am at your hotel. From there, we will transfer you in a tourist vehicle to start your adventure.
8:30 am approx. – Start of the Tour
We will begin our tour with an impressive view of the Andes mountain range as we head towards the picturesque town of Maras, in the Urubamba district, located 3,300 meters above sea level. This charming town is situated 52 kilometers from Cusco and is home to the region’s most important salt mines. The Maras salt mines have been in operation since Inca times and the colonial era, being the first site to produce salt in the region.
Visit to the Maras Salt Mines
In Maras, we will explore the fascinating salt mines, where you will learn about the ancient salt extraction techniques that are still used today. This historic site offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Moray Archaeological Center
We will continue our visit to the Moray archaeological center, located just 7 kilometers from Maras. Moray is one of the most spectacular sites in the region, known for its circular terraces of different sizes. These terraces were used by the Incas as an agricultural experimentation center, creating various microclimates to cultivate a variety of agricultural products.
Return to Cusco
Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco around 2:30 pm. Our transportation will drop you off two blocks from the Plaza de Armas, allowing you to continue exploring this historic city at your own pace.
